Description
Charted at #31 on Billboard Hot 100 in March 1959 and #7 on R&B chart. I've always thought this was one of the most beautiful recordings I've heard, with an atmospheric aura about the production. I can imagine it being used in an emotionally charged scene in a movie set in the '50's or early 60's. It was co-written by Jesse Belvin and his wife who are pictured and were sadly killed in a car accident during 1960.
Original Billboard review: "Belvin gives an emotional reading of a pretty rockaballad that has a salable sound. Smooth chorus and lush orchestra support help. It's worth watching."
The song later charted at #99 on the Hot 100 for Ruby Winters in December 1969 (#19 R&B), bubbled under the Hot 100 at #121 for Slim Whitman in January 1971 (#7 Country), #62 Hot 100 for B.B. King in August 1972 (#21 R&B) and #69 R&B for Larry Graham in 1981.
Written by Jesse Belvin & Jo Ann Belvin.
With Shorty Rogers and his Orchestra and Chorus.
B-side is "My Girl is Just Enough Woman for Me".
